Just a couple quick news items:
Apple announced on Monday that single-processor Power Mac G5s have begun shipping, and the dual-2.0GHz G5s will ship before the end of the month. The G5s include Mac OS X 10.2.7, which has G5-specific performance enhancements. Apple execs said that the recent northeastern blackout which stopped chip production at IBM's Fishkill plant has not affected Power Mac release schedules. Hurrah!
Meanwhile, Aspyr will be releasing Mac versions of Tom Clancy's hit games, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon 3. Inside Mac Games has posted a preview of Splinter Cell. Demos for both games are expected, hopefully before the October release. My thoughts: while it is great that these games will finally be available for Mac users, it seems too long after the PC release for expansion packs not to be included - from what info there is available, both games are plain vanilla versions of what was released for other platforms.
